Baby Steps

Yesterday I went out in the early morning and took the dog for a walk around the park.  It wasn’t a long walk (3/4 of a mile), but I got up and got out.  On Tuesday evening I jumped on the rebounder while I watched Dancing With The Stars (envy).  This morning I bounced on the rebounder.  This afternoon I am going to mow the lawn for G and plant some plants that she wants to get into the ground before it gets cold.  Tomorrow I will go to my t’ai chi class, which I missed last week, since it was the day after “the fall”.  I’m sleeping pretty well and getting up fairly rested.

G is progressing with physical therapy.  The therapist actually cleared her to drive tomorrow, but I’m not sure about it.  Her leg moves so slowly, but sitting down, it might be better.  Maybe we can go try it in a parking lot somewhere so she can refamiliarize herself with it.  I do about 95% of the driving anyway, but she needs to be able to drive herself to the PT appointments, etc.  We’ll see.

Fall is coming to Colorado.  The wind has been blowing like crazy for the last 2 days and it’s only in the 60’s today.  It will get warm again, but change is in the air.  There’s already been some snow in the high country.

I don’t have a lot planned for our anniversary which is tomorrow, but I did make a suggestion about going up to a place we found last fall and having a picnic in the aspens on Monday.  I’ll be off and the weekend crowds will be back at work, so if the weather holds, I think that’s what we will do.  I can’t believe it’s been 5 years since we married ourselves in the care of our friends and 7 years since we’ve been together.  It doesn’t feel nearly that long, yet so many events have been crammed in that time, that it seems like I never really had a life until I was with her.

And maybe that’s true.  Happy October!

  1. Happy anniversary to you both!

“it seems like I never really had a life until I was with her” — that may be the sweetest thing I read today.

  2. I did, Michael! He was actually better than I thought he would be, and very gracious. He had to drop out because he got 2 stress fractures in his feet.
