Bath Time!

Spring has sprung in Pueblo, and nothing says it better than the sweet blooms of the fruit trees.  This is our plum tree in the back:

And the peach tree in the morning:

The other sign that spring is well and truly on its way is the return of the birds and their strong desire for baths.  Normally, our “water feature” is a serene little place:

But between 4 and 7 p.m. these days, it’s the scene of mass gatherings of those of the avian persuasion:

In the above photo we have grackles (with the blue heads) and starlings.  They will bathe together, but the sparrows:

and robins

prefer to stick to themselves and come at different times.  There’s definitely a “pecking order” to bath time around here.  The other day, it was fast and furious:

With a little bit of territory hoarding:

But finally everyone agreed to share:

Then, of course, comes the after bath “preening”:

Saint WHO??

All these photos were taken from the kitchen window with our new camera.  We get so much enjoyment watching these guys have their bath time.  Hopefully, I can get the robins soon because they really put on a show.

Of course, nothing really says spring like some new yard art:

And these lovely ladies that we got from a local salon that was going out of business.  We were really happy to give them a new home!

The concrete “posts” will be put around the yard once painted and then be perches for future whimsical objects.  We say, if you’re going to have a yard/garden, you might as well have fun with it, right?

Happy bathing!
