Big Girl Kicks ASS!!!

As you know (or maybe not) I’m a HUGE fan of Dancing With the Stars.  I’ve watched the show since it first aired back in 2004 or something like that and now it’s in its 12th season and still going strong.  What I love most about the show is that it takes people who have never danced or even thought about dancing, and suddenly something happens to them when they get paired up with a pro and they get in the shoes and the sequins and the music blares.  They DANCE!  They may not be all that good, but they dance.

For any of you who have never done anything in front of a live audience–acting, signing, dancing, public speaking, let me tell you, it’s terrifying.  It is.  It may be exactly what you want to do, but at some point, you’re standing back stage shaking in your boots, wondering why on earth you’re not running out the door, praying you won’t toss your cookies on stage or worse, flub your lines or miss a step or a note.  Then, the performance takes over and it’s all a blur till it’s done.

I love how these stars step out of their comfort zones.  I love how they discover that dancing, that flowing, graceful, rather “sissy” kind of stuff is fucking hard work and demands everything your body can give it and more.  And I love how amazed they look when they’ve finished a number and people actually like it.

Last night, Kirstie Alley, who has endured her share of tabloid infamy for her up and down weight and has probably had to field more fat jokes than Oprah, showed the world that big women are DAMN sexy and can dance the hell around the toothpicks.

GO, KIRSTIE!!

Watch, drool and learn! 😉

  1. MS – that’s just it, she’s NOT a dancer, but she’s discovering she CAN be. And how much fun is that?? And me, I could seriously wear a dress like that. Whoo hoo!

  2. I hope Wendy Williams gets her groove on! She is a hoot and a ball of energy in her regular life. Kirstie Alley did a fantastic job!
