Haiku Monday – Rain

I love Boxer’s theme for this week’s Haiku Monday, especially since rain is pretty rare here.  Our average precipitation is probably less than 18 inches a year.  Yes, a year.  And a large part of that is made up of snow and not actual rain.  So, watching and hoping for rain is kind of a national sport here.

The edge of weather;
I watch the clouds’ fast approach.
The garden hopes, too.

After the cloudburst,
Quick sun and diamond drops.
Glittering new world.

Go to Boxer’s blog and check out the other haiku in the comments section of the post linked above.

  1. Yeah, 18″ in pretty much what we get in a month. 😉 So in many ways, rain (or the lack of it) is a big part of your world too. I love the last line in your first Haiku. The gardens really do hope.

    Thanks for playing!
